Linux jobs favour hands-on ahead of certification

Computerworld | Linux jobs favour hands-on ahead of certification This computerworld article goes into some detail regarding some of the job issues I've talked about here. Basically, hiring managers are looking for people with experience before they look at certifications. Although Joe Poole did mention that a certification will help get an interview but it is no guarantee of being hired, which is at it should be. All a certification should be is for a foot in the door of a company after you have the interview other factors come into play in regards to how well of a fit someone is for the company that is doing the hiring along with other things.

About.com also has an article regarding this same topic which is worth the read.
